Christina Villagrana, CPDT-KA
Certified Professional Dog Trainer
Christina Villagrana is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with over 25 years of hands-on experience helping dogs and their families build clear communication, trust, and real-life reliability. Her training approach is rooted in positive reinforcement, practical structure, and a deep understanding of canine behavior. In addition to her professional certifications, Christina holds an associate degree in Behavioral Science and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, giving her unique insight into behavior and learning for both humans and dogs.
Christina has always had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and began working with them at a very young age. Her mother bred and raised Rough Collies during her early childhood, and dogs were always a constant presence in their home. At just 12 years old, Christina was given the opportunity to adopt her very own dog from a local animal shelter, a scruffy terrier mix she named Babe. That experience sparked a lifelong passion.
Soon after, she joined 4-H, where she began learning the foundations of dog care and training. She went on to compete in obedience trials at fairs across the state and also raised and showed rabbits. As an adult, Christina returned to 4-H as a leader, teaching dog training as well as rabbit and guinea pig care to youth in her community.
Her experience continued to grow through involvement in the dog sport world. Christina served as Secretary of the Working American Bulldog Association and Vice President of her local American Bulldog club, where she trained and worked her dogs in the sport of Schutzhund. These experiences helped shape her well-rounded understanding of working dogs, structure, and advanced training techniques.
Throughout her professional career, Christina has worked with hundreds of dogs of all breeds, temperaments, and behavioral challenges, from basic obedience to more complex issues such as reactivity, leash pulling, and impulse control. She is known for breaking training down into simple, achievable steps that both dogs and their owners can succeed with.
Her background also includes work in animal shelters, veterinary settings, grooming, and extensive rescue and fostering experience, where she has helped rehabilitate and rehome over 200 dogs and puppies. This diverse experience allows her to approach each dog as an individual and tailor training to fit both the dog and the household.
Christina specializes in teaching real-world foundation skills such as loose leash walking, reliable recalls, structured stays, and behavior modification, while also helping owners understand how to prevent unwanted behaviors through proper management and consistency.
Based in the San Antonio, Texas area, Christina shares her home with a lively group of animals, including five dogs, a Chihuahua, two Scottish Terriers, and two rescue Catahoula mixes (mother and daughter) along with two mini pigs, a large flock of chickens of various breeds and sizes, and three cats. She truly lives the lifestyle she teaches every day.
Her goal is not just to train dogs but to empower owners with the knowledge and confidence to create lasting results.
